Marine Electrical Documentation for the Gippsland Lakes Fleet
Lakes Entrance sits at the mouth of a working fishing fleet and a lakes system that a lot of leisure boats — Paynesville and Metung among them — use every summer. The two audiences want different paperwork from the same underlying job: a commercial operator needs electrical documentation that supports an NSCV survey, and a lakes leisure owner needs a full electrical schematic their insurer will actually accept. Maurice Marine does both — calculated, labelled and checked against AS/NZS 3004, whichever kind of boat it's for.
Local Specifics
The working fleet ties up around the Lakes Entrance Fishermens Co-operative, while the leisure side is based mostly at Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club in Paynesville and Metung Yacht Club. Gippsland Lakes conditions — brackish water, long lay-up periods for some of the leisure fleet, near-continuous use for the working boats out of Lakes Entrance itself — put different stress on wiring than an open-bay mooring does. An as-built electrical schematic and a proper labelling job matter more, not less, on a boat that sits for months between uses: the two minutes spent finding the right breaker in an emergency are the two minutes that matter, and that only works if the labelling was done properly the first time. Maurice Marine holds no NSCV surveyor accreditation or AMSA-recognised status — commercial documentation here addresses the electrical component of NSCV compliance only, to help a vessel pass that part of survey. No travel surcharge within 50 km of Lakes Entrance; beyond that, distance is priced case by case.
What We Do
- Standards & Compliance Review and Electrical System Drafting — for commercial vessels preparing for NSCV survey out of Lakes Entrance.
- Electrical System Drafting and Electrical System Labelling — for leisure boats based at Paynesville, Metung and around the lakes, particularly ahead of a sale, an insurance renewal, or a season of lay-up.
- Upgrade & Refit Planning — available for either audience where work is planned rather than just documented.
